The Greater Manchester Training Partnership - Values Based Training

Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership asked NWTDT/ Pathways Associates for support to develop a GM training partnership aimed at Learning Disability provider services. Pathways proposed that self-advocates and family members by involved in the development, delivery and facilitation of the training partnership. This work resulted in the development of a self-advocates reference group, the development of values based practice ‘the eight things you need to know to be a good support worker’ and the development of a workshop about values based support.  Self-advocates have been supported to develop a workshop about how they want to be supported.  The workshop covers, the social model, total communication and human rights.
